The location is good. The guy who was there at reception during the second half of the day is also very cordial and helpful
First of all, the hotel failed to give me the room that was reserved although I didn't reach before time. Secondly, the lady who was there at the reception took the room fare in advance. Her reply was as I will be leaving on next day early, so she wants the payment to be done in advance. This was truly humiliating.

Very good value for money. Nice, clean and comfortable rooms - excellent friendly staff. We asked for room with balcony and it was beautiful with views over the river.
The breakfast could have been a bit more varied, but for the money paid its nothing to mention.

Hotel staff were helpful. The location is not far from the city centre. Breakfast was included and was quite good (ham, cheese, juice, coffee, tea, 2 kinds of bread, cake, etc.). Room is clean. Supermarket is right next door.
The balcony door leads into the washroom. The door itself is kind of tricky to close.

Very nice people working at the Hotel. We especially thought Patricia was very welcoming, caring, and effficient. Excellent location and very clean, with nice breakfasts. When we did have an issue with workmen working outside of our windows the managment was very considerate and understood our concern and we where compensated for one night. We would definately recommend Residential Portomadrid!

I don't really have anything bad to say; all the staff were extremely helpful and kind and generally had really good english (though we spoke a lot of spanish as its closer to portuguese so that we felt like we were making an effort) and the cleaner was lovely! Even the guy who covered reception at night ever complained when we buzzed to get back into the hotel anywhere between 1am and 4/5am nearly every night! The location of the hotel was great, as we were able to walk to the river, the metro station (Bolhao) and the main shopping street all within around 10 minutes. Its really easy to get to the beach from there too, just hop on the metro for 1.25 and the stop is a short walk from the beach. The breakfast was better than we expected, as it usually consists of just coffee and a croissant or sweet pastry for the portuguese, but there was plenty to choose from (toast, cereal, yoghurt, fruit salad, tea, coffee etc). The wifi was great (we had an iphone with us) but it only worked in the reception area downstairs so it meant having to keep going downstairs if we wanted to check something. All in all we had a lovely time.
The only thing that we didn't quite understand at first, was that the hotel asks you to leave your room key at reception when you go out in the morning. This is partly to make sure you don't lose your key, but mainly so the cleaner knows that you aren't in and can go and clean your room. There are signs on your room door saying to leave your key at reception, but it's not quite clear that you do it for the whole of your stay, as we assumed that it just meant when you leave to go home. Also for some reason you can't pay by card when you leave, so we had to get out the cash instead.

The room was tiny, onlu just big enough to move around the bed, but for the price paid it was OK

The staff were very helpful.
I thought that the location of the hotel on a busy street was less than ideal. In addition, the air conditioning unit was broken.

The room was very economical..good aircondition and very nice continental breakfast.. Some staff spoke english and were always very helpful in assisting us with canceling our reservation and finding things in the city....for an economy room it was excellent except for the stairs and mold.
I have asthma and didn't realized the total height of the stairs.. I couldn't make it for three more days and had to cancel further reservation, also our room was a triple and the bathroom was so small the shower leaked profuserly when you tried to shower and there was a terrible odor... We determined by opening some doors that the walls behind them were covered with black mold... Very very very bad for a person with asthma...it was our first expeirence with a residental and we will try one again... But will be sure of the stairs and checking the room for mold

It was all very convenient. The personnel was very friendly & helpful, giving us maps & directions, and they spoke good english. The breakfast buffet was very good, with lots of choice. (Don't expect a lot of fibres in Portugal though.) The room was nice & complete. The location was just east of the city center, and everything was walkable. Great hotel, especially for the price!
I really enjoyed it, but the (double) bed was a bit noisy sometimes.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the entire staff was amazing! They gave honest advice and helped us with transportation logistics. Our travel goal is to find an affordable hotel that is quiet, clean and conveniently located. Residencial Portomadrid is all that and more! The breakfast buffet was included in the room price and was more substantial than a continental buffet.

The hotel is located just in 2 blocks from Garagem Atlantico in Porto (main bust terminal for Rede Expressos - the major bus operator in Portugal). The hotel and the terminal are located in the same street - rua Alexandre Herculano. The personal is great, kind and effective - they are always ready to help you. The hotel itself is located in the center of Porto, close to everything in walking distance. Also you have two supermarkets rather close, one of them belongs to the big market chain Pingo Doce. So if you want to travel to Porto by Rede Expressos and expecially arrive at night, the hotel is a good choice. I paid 28 Eu/night. This hotel was a really good choice for me and good value for money.
The room was rather small with old furniture and the walls were rather thin so it was slightly noisy. But everything depends on your neighbors - mine slept all the night. If serious, if you pay 28 Eu/night, don't try to expect Hilton.
